Group Fitness training in Virginia Beach, VirginiaCavanaugh Fitness offers customized, elite fitness training groups for individuals who appreciate the extra layer of support and motivation that comes along with working out with a group. If you don’t have a group, don’t worry! We can match you to one of our standing workout groups, that best meets your skill level. We find that most new trainees find workouts to be more enjoyable in the group format. The shared attention of a trainer feels a bit less intimidating than doing the workout alone. In these group workout forums, we are reminded of our earlier active days when we devoted a large portion of our time to having fun, being active with our friends. The obligations of adult life can make it hard to find time for this active, group fun. This is one of the reasons why our group training sessions are so popular. Group Training Verses Group Workouts Our clients and potential clients often inquire about the difference between group training sessions and group workouts. At One Life, fitness classes (like Zumba, yoga and aerobics) are offered at multiple times throughout the day. The purpose of these classes is to increase heart rate and get your body moving. While we have similar goals in group training sessions, we have the add goals of skill building and orienting each client (and their efforts in this group) toward their individual goals. Additionally, because we’re catering to multiple skills and strength levels in a group setting, we try to make each trainees efforts customized. Benefits of Group Training We encourage and commend any workouts our clients engage in but we especially love the group format for those who are burnt out or bored with their current workouts or lacking motivation for sole workouts. The first, arguably most important, fact about group training session is the level of accountability it brings to your personal fitness journey. Accountability from others is what drives us to accomplish regardless of our current energy level or other commitments. Accountability can get you to the workout, despite mental or time barriers and its also what stirs workout motivation. Making the point to train with individuals who surpassed your skill level, also stimulates the desire to advance your own skills. The purpose if hiring a trainer is building on your skill level so you feel comfortable working on your own. Once this transfer of knowledge takes place, continuing to workout with training groups, offsets the boredom and stimulates the desire to keep improving. At Cavanaugh Fitness, we recognize that boredom is the ultimate workout killer. In our group training formats especially, we strive to keep workouts variable and fun. You can expect that no two group workouts are the same. All of our group training sessions happen in a 60-minute time block. An hour can feel like an eternity for those doing trainer workouts alone. Its for this reason that we offer both group and 30-minute individual workout sessions. We find that our group participants continue to return to the group training forum because the groups allows for a positive social interaction. Given that most people spend the majority of the time at work and some work places are stressful, or even toxic, having this once weekly group training acts as a corrective social experience. That positive experience becomes associated with workouts, in general, and that association eventually becomes generalized to all workouts. These associations are what keep people coming back time and time again to their fitness goals. One of the added benefits of our Cavanaugh Fitness training groups is that all of our trainees were once at your fitness level. They, therefore, know the importance of positive regard and interactions with the new person. Group training can be intimidating, at first, but you’ll find that only the first time is hard. Once you acclimate to this type of workout, you will never miss another group training experience. We design our group workouts with multiple skill levels in mind and use various techniques to ensure that you are working towards the top of your skill level. We vary the force and concentration of the workout, throughout the hour, to foster a full body workout experience. We set weight and intensity levels for each participate and then interact with trainees throughout to motivate and correct, as needed. We have an open group format but defer to the trainer to determine if a client is ready for group workouts and which group they would feel most comfortable in. Perhaps you have particular workout preferences that guide you, such as single sex workouts only or an old injury that excludes you from certain functional movements. Brian, from your initial intake or consultation, should and will be aware of this before he plugs you into any group. You can expect to have fun, work hard and leave feeling a high level of exhaustion. We have some trainees who do group training sessions exclusively and we think this speaks to the level of entertainment, amusement and satisfaction you can expect when you attend a group training session.
